PORTLAND, Ore. – This week former Oregon Duck Joey Harrington announced that he would be joining the Portland Oregon Restaurant scene when he opens his own restaurant in Portland.
Although many “foodies” in this area might recoil at the thought of another celeb or pro athlete opening a restaurant, Harrington promises to make his Pearl Tavern a neighborhood destination where people can come for good food, not just the same steaks or cuts that can be found in any other celeb restaurant across the United States.
He Didn’t Want A Typical Money Pit
In a recent interview with www.oregonlive.com Harrington said this about the wide variety of restaurants across the United States that happen to have a pro athlete’s name on them and how his Pearl Tavern is going to be different:
“All those other restaurants feel like Ruth’s Chris with a different name,” Harrington says. “You get the same list of Napa cabs, the same choice of filet or porterhouse, the same sides you can share. You slap an athlete’s name on the side of it, and you’ve got yourself a money pit.“
This Portland Oregon Restaurant Will Open In November 2016
Pearl Tavern is slated to open in November 2016 in Portland’s Pearl District and 3 percent of it’s profits will go to the charitable foundation that Joey Harrington started back during his playing days with the Detroit Lions.
Besides offering excellent craft beers, you can also find excellent wine and steaks that are as good as what you will find anywhere in Portland, especially Ringside’s, and what’s even better than the establishments casual environment is their 14-foot screen that will be excellent for watching NFL games and local sporting events.
