There’s no denying that Damian Lillard is having a great season since he’s been averaging 7.1 assists and 24.3 points per game but after being named as a reserve on the Western Conference All Star Team for the last two seasons it’s surprising that Lillard isn’t going to be on the 2016 NBA All Star game.
Lillard is helping the Trailblazers win this season and his stats are helping him to rank among the top seven in the NBA who are averaging 24 or more points and up to 10 assists per game.
Why Was He Snubbed?
Yes, Damian Lillard is having another great season so why are his contributions to the game being overlooked resulting in him getting passed up for the 2016 NBA All Star Game? The answer depends on who you ask but it’s easy to see from most of the sports news that Portland was written off as contenders since the team lost four starters over the offseason including LaMarcus Aldridge.
In spite of the naysayers Portland has been playing strong this season including winning eight of their last 10 games.
Although Damian Lillard was overlooked for the 2016 All Star game the good news is that Portland is a strong contender for a playoff spot even though most people have said that they would be lucky to make the lottery.
A True Leader
What’s really cool about Damian Lillard is that even though he was snubbed and won’t be in the 2016 NBA All Star Game he’s taking it all in stride and is relishing his role in helping the underdog Trailblazers be a team that people are watching.
Besides being a leader on the court Lillard is also leading his team in the clubhouse including showing the 19 and 22 year old Trailblazers a thing or two in the weight room, watching film, practice and doing all of the little things that when combined create a great team.
